On 11/10/2017, Upscience Vietnam held a seminar introducing its food analytical services – a service with increasing potential in the Vietnamese market.

The event gathered more than 50 guests from major actors of the Food Industry in Vietnam and abroad. Among the speakers of the day, Upscience Vietnam had the honor to welcome Mr. Alexandre Bouchot, Counselor for Agricultural Affairs at the French Embassy in Vietnam, as well as Mr. Phong Quach, Head of Business Development and Execution for Ipsos Business Consulting, who shared with the audience their perspectives and data about the Vietnamese food market and trends.

Over the past few years, demand for food and foodstuff has consistently increased due to the population growth rate. In addition, the more the society develops, and the more the demand for food quality increases. Recent researches conducted by Ipsos Business Consulting have highlighted a change in the Vietnamese consumption motive: with the growth of health-consciousness, eating is not only a basic individual need, but has become a path to beauty and happiness. Along with the consumers concerns, the expectations on regulatory standards for products are also rising and evolving from VietGAP to GlobalGAP. To meet all requirements, the food industry needs to focus on analyzing food quality indicators.

With over 60 years of experience in providing analytical and advisory services to the feed and food industry in Europe, Upscience Vietnam has now become the leader in animal feed testing in Vietnam. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, and operates according to the ISO 17025 norm. Fast-mover in its field of expertise, the laboratory has recently increased its range of analysis for feed and food, applying for 56 new accredited methods to its portfolio. Upscience Vietnam does not only provide high accuracy testing, but also offers in-depth tailor-made solutions to meet the needs of the market, applicable for every actor of the industry.

During the workshop, and among other topics, the participants had the opportunity to learn more about proficiency testing, FDA new regulations on products labels exported to the US market, as well as standard procedures to send samples from factories to the laboratory.

The raise of awareness and change of habits in the population emphasizes the importance for industrials to choose a reliable laboratory to ensure high quality and safety of their products among the consumers, maximize their profits and enhance their brand value.
